Fraction to decimal
A fraction is a division problem. Divide the top number, called the numerator, by the bottom number, called the denominator. Five eighths becomes 5 ÷ 8 = 0.625.
Some fractions create repeating decimals. One third becomes 0.333..., so round only as much as the situation requires.
Decimal to percentage
Multiply a decimal by 100 and add the percent sign. This is equivalent to moving the decimal point two places to the right. A decimal of 0.42 becomes 42%.
Numbers greater than one become percentages greater than 100%. For example, 1.25 equals 125%.
Percentage to decimal or fraction
Divide a percentage by 100 to get a decimal. Thirty-five percent becomes 0.35. To write it as a fraction, place 35 over 100 and simplify to 7/20.
